Models

Aplite runs models through OpenRouter — one metered account across every major provider. Switching models never means a new subscription: you pick from a curated catalog, and usage is billed in credits only when agents actually call a model.

One default, per-agent exceptions

Your workspace has a default model, and every agent uses it unless told otherwise. Change it in Settings and every agent follows. Give one agent a bigger model in its own header — a researcher on a frontier model, everyone else on the default — and that pin overrides the workspace setting for that agent alone.

Fallbacks

The default sits at the top of an ordered ladder you control in Settings. When a provider errors mid-run, the run falls to the next rung instead of dying — an upstream outage degrades your routine to a different model, not to silence.

Picking by price

Models differ in price by orders of magnitude, and most routine work — digests, watches, summaries — reads fine off inexpensive ones. A sensible workspace runs cheap by default and pins an expensive model only where the work earns it. The Free plan includes the budget end of the catalog; paid plans open all of it.
